The Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill, North Carolina is a particularly beautiful church. The system we have installed in this facility is somewhat unique in that we have used the new BSS SoundWeb digital audio processing system for all elements of audio control. The system includes a 48 point patch bay. All inputs and output are directed through the patch bay. All mic and line inputs are connected to the analog to digital converters in the input section of the SoundWeb. The analog outputs of the SoundWeb drive four Crown CT210 channels for the loudspeaker systems. Additional SoundWeb outputs are used for the recording system and the assistive listening system. All processing is accomplished in the digital domain. This gives us the ability to have individual delay settings for all speakers as well as the assistive listening system. Additionally, since there is no additional cost for introducing processing objects into a particular signal path we can do things like band pass limiting, equalization and dynamics processing in circuits like the assistive listening signal path. In the past, using all analog processing devices it would be far too cost prohibitive to make the ALS system sound this good.

![]() This is the opening menu of the Crestron control system. Touching the start button activates The sequential turn on system. There are no knobs or faders to adjust, just touch screen controls. The preset control configurations provide a great starting point for inexperienced operators. Of course the system will also run in a totally automatic mode! |
