Are you one of those folks who only has one TV in your home? I didn't figure that
you were and there is no need to feel like the lone ranger. The average American has
3.6 TV's in their homes. Cable system operators have apparently gotten that message
because you see a lot of new adds promising free connection for "all" TV's in
the home. The reality, though, is that most cable systems have not gotten the
message on home wiring. Cable in the home can be used for regular TV channels,
satellite based broadcasts, security camera viewing for front door or nursery monitoring
and communication of infra red commands between satellite receivers and other peripheral
equipment used throughout the home. Structured wiring solutions provide
two runs of RG-6 coaxial cable and two runs of CAT5-E cable to designated
locations throughout your home. The wire starts out in a distribution
panel box usually located in the garage or under a stair well in a convenient
location. The receptacle locations usually terminate to multiple jack
plates. You can use your structured wiring system for any desired purpose
by inserting the appropriate patch cable in the distribution box. For
example, you can install a satellite receiver at a box location. Direct TV
requires that the box be connected to your phone line at all times. So,
you can use one of the RG-6 runs for the signal coming from the dish and one of
the CAT5-E runs for the required phone line. Another example would be a
room where you might want to locate a computer. One of the CAT5-E lines
could be used for a telephone and the other could be used to carry high speed
internet access from the router located in the distribution panel. Whether
you use the "Road Runner" cable internet connection or the phone
company "DSL" type connection you still use CAT5-E cable to carry the
signal to your computer. And the wire clutter is restricted to the
interior of the distribution panel box. Call us today to talk at greater length about
the capabilities of Channel Plus and Channel Vision Central structured wiring
and cable distribution systems. If
you are building a new house or just trying to live in the old one, I'm sure you will be
glad you made the call!
